Considering you have a 2.3L sitting in your garage, what are you waiting for?!

Oh, I'm tempted for sure! ;) It's a prototype...I wonder how it is different from their production versions?

It's probably worth a call to find out. I checked their catalog and it lists their 2.3L crank as 2.9kg lighter than the Ranger unit, which is almost a 20% reduction. Interestingly their 2.0L crank is only marginally lighter than stock (13.3kg vs 13.5kg).

This crank allows you to go from 7500 to 8500 rpm, if you have the cosworth head, rods and pistons.
I'm tempted, but the prototype status is a bit scary.

I sent them an email asking for more information on the prototype status.

Got a reply...it's got different counterweights, but otherwise mostly the same.
Magnus, are you required to use a Cosworth head? If not, I'm going to bid... :D

Well.
According to Ken@Cosworth, the crank allows for higher rpm. I don't think the stock head can handle much more than 7500 or so RPM (springs etc?), so it would be a waste apart from quicker blip response times due to the lower mass. For what it's worth, I run a Exedy flywheel/clutch pack that is heavier(!) than stock, and have no problems with blips. One day I'll go aluminum flywheel and forged crank, but that is after the roll cage is in

It's hard to imagine something heavier than the stock flywheel!
Magnus, you should bid on this...I'm going to pass. I need to save my pennies for the se7ens tour this summer.

Half-hour to go. I am not bidding, so the price won't be driven up by me.
