A friend sent me an interesting video on some Japanese guys who drive their ex-Le Mans race cars on the street. It stands on its own merits (who doesn't want to watch Jaguar XJ220LMs and 962Cs running on the highway?) but I caught a glimpse of the owner's 7 (not sure what vintage, appears early due to bodywork) as he saddled up to take his XJ220LM for a spin.

The 4-rotor Mazda 767B is pretty cool too.

Wild! I would love to make it to one of the gatherings of 7s in Japan. Small groups of 7s can be seen in mountainous twisty-road areas on most any nice day there, but they also have gatherings organized on-line through SMP (Seven Meeting Place) which are typically very well attended.

How much would a 7 cost in Japan?

New ones start at 4,410,000 for the Roadsport, and go to 7,665,000 for the R500, before options. This equates to approximately $42,389 and $73,676, respectively.

Used ones vary of course, but there are usually multiple cars for sale at any given time. For example, Knightsbridge, near Nagoya (http://knightsbridge.co.jp) has a few cars showing in stock now, in winter (interestingly, one is the new Suzuki-powered model, which the main dealership does not list?).

A very vibrant 7 scene over there!

That's an impressive gathering of Sevens in Japan! I wish we could get that kind of turnout here.
