Wow! Is it 2017 already? 10 years since the trip to Canada. Unemployed at the moment maybe I should retrace the route...

If you do, you can overnight at my place in Port Angeles, WA. I might join you for a bit, too.

It was good to see those photos again - that was a fun trip! Coincidentally, I'm retracing a very small portion next week during a solo 2+ day tour (Seattle > Mt. St. Helens > Mt. Rainier > North Cascades Highway). If you do plan to tour through OR, WA, or BC, please let me know. I may also want to join for a bit.

That was a fun trip. I have very fond memories of Gert pushing his car into Canada. ;-)

Oh yes...that was a good one. That Canadian customs girl insisted on me turning the engine off while checking the passport although I explained to her that the hot starter won't crank the engine. After that trip I bought a Gustafson gear reduction starter and never had trouble since.
Last time in 2015 I did not even make it to the Canadian border. That valve retainer broke about 60 miles before and ruined the engine altogether (don't believe the Burton Power recommendations).

But it was a good trip, indeed!

One of my lasting memories from that trip was when someone pulled out to pass an SUV only to discover it was an unmarked WA State Trooper :icon_eek-new:

I recall downshifting to 3rd and beginning to pull out to follow when the back of the truck lit up in blue and red. Missed it by that much :icon_biggrin:
