Caterham have issued a press release with details of the new Sigma engined 7's which can now be ordered for 2007. Looks like three variants of the 1600 Ford Sigma engine which will replace the current K series.

I'm not clear on this motor. Is it a duratec or a zetec?? TIA.

Sigma is the new ford engine for its micro cars, iirc.

I googled sigma and it seemed that it could be a duratec or a zetec; the search just left me more unclear. I have the impression that it is based on one or the other and is not a new I4 Ford family.

It's not the same as the modular 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.3 Duratec engines. As mentioned it is a smaller displacement engine.

I think CC wants to provide an entry level lower cost option in order to get more people addicted to the 4 wheeled opiate, and then keep them strung out w/ the inevitable necessary injections of upgradeitis substances. Clever bastards those:D
