GENTLEMEN! Puleeze! This is an ENGLISH car forum. It's SWMBO, or nothing.

Car-wise, Score at the end of 4 quarters of 2013. Chris 1, MoPho 0, Gert 0!

Well, a 4600+ mile trip up to Jasper, AB and back should count for some brownie points. Admittedly only 2500 miles of that in the Seven.

But I feel guilty of neglecting the car since last summer. That bathroom project really grew beyond expectation. I should have reminded myself that building furniture does take time.
I did fire the car up today. Still need to load Randall's map file and hope it can make the engine go beyond 1500 rpm. Otherwise it would be a pretty lame blat.

If y'all decide to head over this way I'll trot the car out and meet up prior to the start. Can't, or rather won't, make the trip though.

Yay! Just did a quick drive around the block. Randall's map did the trick, thanks!! I still need to fine tune since it is rich in several areas of the map and the baro sensor is not configured. At some point I have to explore the zillion additional settings that were added to the software and figure out how to let it do the auto-tuning trick for the injection map with the wideband sensor. But I guess it was 150 GBP well spent for the upgrade.

I believe I can get it now running well for the trip. Remaining question.....when to do this? Actually, this weekend is now booked but I am still up for 12/30, 12/31 or 1/1

I vote for Monday with Tuesday as a backup.

Chris, we could meet at your house for breakfast.

I discovered, today, that my cooling fan isn't coming on. Hopefully, I'll have that sorted by this weekend. Then, any day will be fine for me.

Have you compared your old cold start offsets to the ones in my map? Mine are very rich...I need to get around to working on those. I suspect that if you put in your old cold corrections, it'll save you lots of work.

I found my cooling fan issue was a bad sensor. Replaced and tested, I'm good to go.

Yes, I corrected the coolant and air temperature compensation. I had also changed the time scale from 61 usec/count to 23 usec. That allows for much higher map resolution.
But I guess the new hall-effect TPS may have a slightly different response curve compared to a mechanical pot. Overall it runs quite well already and I never had the idle as stable.

    So we are going Monday.

Someone had to commit us to a date.

    Now pick a destination.

    Wrightwood, Ojai? Or other?

Cool. Monday it is. Weather so far looks good.

But the choice of routes overwhelms my decision making capacity.

Do what you usually do in this case. Ask the wife.

That is the problem. She is 6000 miles away. I know there technology like the phone, but I guess she may not care if she can not go on the trip.

Not especially. I haven't been to either Ojai or Wrightwood for some time.

My usual mountain drive is something like this:

I love the Glendora Ridge route but isn't it closed this time of year?

What is the traffic like on the route around Big Bear lake?

Otherwise I vote for the route to Ojai via either the Old Road, or Little Tujunga to Lake Hughes road by way of Spunky Canyon then thru Frazier Park to Ojai.

Not sure about Monday but many people took time off and some will be going to ski Big Bear Lake. Great roads but awful in traffic.

I think I am leaning to Little Tujunga, Lake Hughes, Frazier Park, Hw33, Ojai and back. All fabulous roads, usually empty and I have not been there for a year or two.

Glendora ridge is closed when there's snow. So far, it's been open but that can change any day.

The back road to Big Bear usually has little traffic, most people go up the 330 since it's shorter. During holiday traffic days, I usually drive along the north shore to avoid the in-town traffic at Big Bear.

I'm fine with Ojai, Lake Hughes, Frazier Park etc. Like Gert, I haven't been up that way for a year or two.

    OK

Monday to Ojai via some route.

Now do I have to decide where to meet too?

    Sorry for late reply.

I cannot join since my front hubs are off, waiting for new bearings. I doubt that I will get everything together prior to the blat.
