Default Anyone know a 7 knowledgeable shop or mechanic?

    Hi there,
I wanted to pick the forum's brain a little.
I need to get some suspension work and some ECU work done on my car that is outside my ability (or time available to learn).
I would love to find a shop or mechanic that I could pay to do the work but I don't know of anyone in the LA area.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? My alternative would be to see if I could ship the car back to Birkin (but just shipping the car there and back looks close to $2K. I'd rather put that money in the car if I could)
    All suggestions gratefully received!

I am not sure if there is one (good) single local specialist who can do what you want.
You may want to call Motoring Specialists in Vacaville (previously MSI Motorsports or Birkin North America) if they still would service Sevens. Larry Anderson took over from Woody Harris many years ago and he was very familiar with Birkins in general and also a dealer for the Emerald ECU.
If he is still in charge he could take care of your car but while closer than Colorado, this is still some 400 miles away. Many years ago I drove up my car for a tranny swap and EFI install, flew back, flew up again 2 weeks later, picked up my car and drove it back.

The last I spoke to Larry and Woody, MSI wasn't working on 7s anymore.

    Paul, see my email.

Why not give Tom Carlin in Vail a call (970-376-5188). He may know of someone closer than he is. At one point, I was at my wits end with the ECU and ready to tow the car to Vail but Tom patiently worked with me over the phone and I eventually got it sorted out. He is a great guy and quite helpful. I have used Johnson Alignment in Torrance for suspension work in the past but, while quite competent, they have no specific expertise on Birkins. Ask for Steve Alarcon (He's an old POC racer) (310-370-6301). They recently did the alignment and corner weighting on my car. If it's a matter of swapping components (shocks, springs etc) I could probably lend a hand.

Many thanks for the ideas everyone, great suggestions , very appreciated!
I am sorting out a suspension appointment with a previous recommendation. I'll let you know how it goes (and if I bought the correct dampers).
